The John Hancock Center , is a 100-story, 1,128-foot supertall skyscraper located in Chicago , Illinois. Located in the Magnificent Mile district, its name was changed to 875 North Michigan Avenue on February 12, 2018.  It was constructed under the supervision of Skidmore, Owings and Merrill, with chief designer Bruce Graham and structural engineer Fazlur Khan.  When the building topped out on May 6, 1968, it was the second-tallest building in the world and the tallest outside New York City. History The project, which would become the world's second-tallest building at the opening, was conceived and owned by Jerry Wolman in late 1964. The project was financed by John Hancock Mutual Life Insurance Company. About Willis Tower At completion in 1973, it surpassed the World Trade Center in New York to become the tallest building on earth, a title it held for nearly 25 years it remained the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere until the conclusion of a brand new building in the rebuilt World Trade Center site in 2014. There Are Numerous permanent Displays at Shedd: Waters of Caribbean Reef, the World, Amazon Rising Reef, along with the Abbott Oceanarium. Waters of the World The oldest galleries at the aquarium feature exhibit on lakes, rivers, islands, and oceans, and Chicago's own local waters. Species on display include Haraldmeier's Mantella, Gymnarchus a giant Pacific octopus, blue iguana, starfish, seahorses, and alligator snapping turtle. Caribbean Reef The Reef exhibit was built on the site of the aquarium exhibition, the Tropical Pool. A feature of the display is a diver that interacts with all the animals while talking with the folks.
